Optimization of Distributed Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation in Day-ahead Electricity Market Incorporating Irradiance Uncertainty

This paper proposes a simple and practical approach to model the uncertainty of solar irradiance determines optimized day-ahead (DA) schedule electricity market. The problem formulation incorporates power output distributed photovoltaic generator (DSPVG) forecasted load demands with specified level certainty. proposed certainty levels random variables (solar demand) from their probability density function curves. In this process optimization, energy storage system (ESS) has also been modeled based on fact that stored during low locational marginal price (LMP) periods dispatched high LMP would strengthen economy DA schedule. objective formulated non-linear optimization is maximize social welfare market participants, which assured generation outputs DSPVG, subject real reactive balance transmission capability constraints charging/dis-charging ESS. simulation performed Indian utility 62-bus system. results are presented large number cases demonstrate effectiveness for efficient, economic reliable operation markets.
